The New York Giants completed their trade for quarterback Jaxson Dart from the Houston Texans. This finalization occurred when the Texans used their third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which was part of the original trade terms.

The Giants acquired Jaxson Dart in 2025, receiving a 2025 first-round pick (No. 25 overall). In exchange, the Texans obtained a 2025 second-round pick (No. 34 overall), a third-round pick (No. 99 overall), and a third-round pick for 2026.

In his first season with the Giants, Dart succeeded Russell Wilson as the starting quarterback in Week 4. He achieved a record of 4-8 over 12 starts, completing 63.7% of his passes, with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions, resulting in a passer rating of 91.7.

Dart missed two games during the season due to a concussion. The Texans, utilizing the picks received from the Dart trade, selected wide receiver Jayden Higgins at No. 34 overall after moving down nine spots.

The Texans did not retain the No. 99 pick; they used it to trade up 10 spots with the Las Vegas Raiders, acquiring the No. 48 pick. They selected offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery there, while the Raiders chose offensive tackle Charles Grant with the No. 99 pick.

On another transaction night, the Texans traded the 69th pick to Buffalo as part of a first-round swap. Buffalo later exchanged it with the Tennessee Titans, who then traded it to the Chicago Bears, leading to the Bears selecting Stanford TE Sam Roush.

The Texans engaged in multiple trades, including exchanging picks 28, 69, and 167 for picks 26 and 91. Following the convoluted trading, they selected guard Keylan Rutledge at No. 28.

Higgins, selected by the Texans, participated in all 17 games, making 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns. He started in 10 games and played 57.8% of the Texans’ offensive snaps.

Higgins ranked second in receiving yards among Texans wide receivers, improving his performance as the season progressed. Ersery, acquired partly through the trade involving pick 99, became a full-time starter, appearing in 16 regular-season games.

He faced challenges during his season, allowing eight sacks as the starting left tackle, along with a team-high 49 pressures.
