Pablo Centrone has officially resigned as the head coach of Club Deportivo Guastatoya, just hours before their playoff match against Municipal.
The resignation came shortly before the first leg of the quarter-finals in the Clausura 2026, scheduled for 19:00 at the Estadio David Cordón Hichos.
This unexpected departure leaves Guastatoya in a challenging position as they prepare for a pivotal moment in the season.
Last Sunday, Guastatoya secured their place in the playoffs by defeating Marquense 4-0.
Centrone joined Guastatoya in September 2025 with the goal of leading the team away from the relegation zone and into the playoffs, a mission he accomplished successfully.
Despite his success, reports indicate that Centrone expressed dissatisfaction with certain players, prompting his decision to step down.
According to the club president, the coaching staff has been notified of Centrone’s resignation, and now the team must find a replacement quickly.
Guastatoya is expected to announce who will coach the team against Municipal, as well as for the return leg on Sunday at El Trébol.
