North Carolina’s Seth Trimble Enters Transfer Portal

North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal with a do-not-contact tag, seeking an additional year of eligibility.

North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. He entered with a do-not-contact tag, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Trimble spent four seasons at North Carolina.

He is now seeking an additional year of eligibility. Trimble made 129 career appearances for the Tar Heels. He started in 45 of those games.

In the 2025-26 season, Trimble started all 24 of his appearances. He averaged 14.0 points per game. He also averaged 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Trimble shot 47.1% from the field last season. His three-point shooting percentage was 28.6%. He missed UNC’s first nine games with a broken arm.

The injury occurred during a preseason workout. For his efforts, Trimble was named an All-ACC Honorable Mention. His path to success was uncommon.

Trimble received sparse minutes as a true freshman. He returned for his sophomore season. He then averaged 5.2 points in 17.1 minutes per game.

By his junior year, Trimble often started. He averaged 11.6 points per outing that season. He played high school basketball at Menomonee Falls in Wisconsin.

Trimble was a four-star recruit there. He was ranked No. 41 overall in the 2022 class. He was the No. 5 point guard according to Rivals.

He is not the first player without eligibility to enter the portal. Former Kentucky guard Denzel Aberdeen also entered. Aberdeen committed to Florida despite having no eligibility.

Players like Trimble need an NCAA waiver. They could also pursue legal action. They may await a rule change.

UNC is undergoing significant roster turnover. The school fired head coach Hubert Davis this offseason. He was replaced by former NBA coach Mike Malone.

The NCAA Transfer Portal opened on April 7. It will close on April 21. This new 15-day window followed a recommendation.
