pinalti.com – Wisconsin native Teagan Mallegni is transferring to the Badgers women’s basketball team from Iowa. The school announced the signing on April 18, 2026. Mallegni is a 6-foot-1 guard from McFarland.
She spent her first two collegiate seasons with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Mallegni averaged 2.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in 45 total games. As a freshman, she played in 30 of 34 games.
She averaged 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds as a freshman. Her playing time was 8.8 minutes per game that season. Her minutes dropped to 5.6 per game this past year.
Mallegni appeared in 15 games during her sophomore season. She averaged 1.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. According to the Des Moines Register, an ankle injury hampered her early.
She then missed four games in late November and early December. This was due to having her tonsils removed. She never worked her way back into the regular playing rotation.
Mallegni was a highly regarded prospect coming out of McFarland High School. HoopGurlz ranked her as the No. 59 prospect in the 2024 class. ESPN listed her as the 64th-ranked prospect.
Her best game with Iowa came against Wisconsin this past season. She finished with season highs in scoring and minutes. Iowa won that game 81-52.
Mallegni scored 10 points in that contest against the Badgers. She also played 14 minutes and recorded four assists. She added two steals in the victory.
She is the fourth player the Badgers have added this offseason. Guard Addie Deal and forward Kadidia Toure were transfer portal pickups. Guard Alicia Courthiau is an incoming freshman from Belgium.
Wisconsin coach Robin Pingeton signed three in-state players last fall. That was for her 2026 recruiting class. Now she has added Wisconsin-bred talent from the transfer portal.
