VfB Stuttgart faces significant changes in its goalkeeping department for the upcoming season. Alexander Nübel, currently on loan from Bayern Munich, will leave after three years with the team.
Stuttgart plans to promote Dennis Seimen, returning from a successful loan at SC Paderborn 07, to the number one position. Seimen has gained recognition for his impressive performances in the 2. Bundesliga.
Florian Hellstern, another young goalkeeper, recently extended his contract with Stuttgart until at least 2030. Hellstern currently plays for the reserves in the 3. Liga.
With Seimen’s promotion, discussions about Hellstern’s next steps are underway. Bild reports that the club is considering a loan move for Hellstern either within the 2. Bundesliga or abroad.
Nübel’s departure is fueled by his desire to maintain a starting position, which is unlikely at Bayern Munich due to Manuel Neuer’s expected extension. Nübel’s €11 million-per-year salary is a financial burden for Stuttgart.
Sporting director Max Eberl aims to reduce wages, making a permanent exit for Nübel likely. Discussions suggest a transfer fee in the range of €20–25 million for the 29-year-old goalkeeper.
