Sinner and Fils Advance to Semi-Finals at Madrid Open

On Wednesday at the Mutua Madrid Open, Jannik Sinner advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Rafael Jodar. Arthur Fils also reached the last four by beating Jiri Lehecka.

Sinner faced Jodar in the first quarter-final match. The Italian saved all five break points in the second set, showcasing his skills with a stylish backhand flick.

Sinner won the match 6-2, 7-6(0), marking his achievement of reaching all nine ATP Masters 1000 semi-finals. Sinner’s next opponent will be Arthur Fils.

Fils, the recent Barcelona champion, secured his first semi-final spot in Madrid with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Miami finalist Jiri Lehecka. The match included thrilling moments, particularly a fun rally in the first set.

In doubles action, Manuel Guinard and Guido Andreozzi triumphed over singles stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Luciano Darderi with a score of 5-7, 6-1, 11-9. Guinard experienced an awkward moment in the second set when struck by one of Tsitsipas’ backhands.
