Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston has issued bold predictions for the Celtics’ 2026 playoff run. The 2025-26 NBA regular season has concluded with Boston winning 56 games. The team now looks ahead to Game 1 of their first-round series this Sunday.
Forsberg first revisited seven preseason predictions to assess their accuracy. He declared his prediction about Jaylen Brown making an All-NBA team a lock. Another prediction about the Celtics finishing top ten in steals was incorrect.
The Celtics actually finished 28th in steals at 7.1 per game. Forsberg noted they should have predicted a top-ten rank in not allowing steals. Boston finished first in the NBA in opponent steals per game at 6.2.
A prediction about Derrick White blocking 100+ shots fell just short. White blocked 98 shots across 77 games played. Forsberg called it a near miss.
The prediction of another 40/40 night for the Celtics has not happened yet. A forecast about Josh Minott receiving Most Improved Player votes also missed. Forsberg admitted Neemias Queta was the better choice.
He predicted Brad Stevens would make a splash-worthy deal in January 2026. The team traded Anfernee Simons for Nikola Vucevic, but in February. Forsberg also predicted Jayson Tatum would return to game action in February 2026.
Tatum’s actual debut was on March 6 against Dallas. Forsberg’s original March 4 prediction was closer. He paired these with a correct prediction about Boston challenging for a top-four East spot.
Feeling confident, he now offers seven new bold postseason prognostications. These predictions are also seen as needs for a long playoff run. Checking these boxes could help the Celtics return to the Finals stage.
