Alex Palou won the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday. He drove the No. 10 OpenAI Chip Ganassi Racing Honda to victory. Palou beat pole sitter Felix Rosenqvist by 3.9663 seconds.
Quick pit work from his Chip Ganassi Racing crew helped secure the win. Palou then used his pure pace to run away from the field. This marked his first career victory at Long Beach.
It was his third win in five races this season. The victory was the 22nd of his INDYCAR career. Palou now leads the series championship standings.
He holds a 17-point advantage over Kyle Kirkwood. Palou aims for his fifth series championship. He also seeks a record-tying fourth consecutive title.
Six-time champion Scott Dixon finished third. Dixon drove the No. 9 PNC Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. This was his best result of the season.
Kyle Kirkwood placed fourth in the No. 27 JM Bullion/Gold.com Honda. Pato O’Ward finished fifth in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. The race was 90 laps long.
Felix Rosenqvist started the race from the pole position. He drove the No. 60 SiriusXM/Acura Honda for Meyer Shank Racing. Rosenqvist finished second to Palou.
