Sorana Cîrstea, aged 36 and ranked 26th in the WTA, trained today at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid. She is preparing for a match against Coco Gauff, ranked 3rd in the world.
Sorana began her Madrid campaign successfully, defeating Tyra Caterina Grant with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (5). Her upcoming match against Gauff is anticipated to be challenging, as Gauff has beaten her in both previous encounters.
During her training session on the Bernabeu’s practice court, Sorana shared photographs and a video showcasing her practice shots. After training, Belinda Bencic complimented Sorana, stating, “Body goals,” referring to her appearance.
Sorana wore a turquoise two-piece outfit consisting of leggings and a top. Before facing Gauff, she expressed her expectations for a complicated match, stating, “I know her quite well tactically, and she knows me, of course.”
She acknowledged Gauff’s better performance on clay, noting, “It will surely be a difficult match.” Sorana emphasized the need for more training days to acclimate to the conditions.
