SAN ANTONIO – Genaro Jesus Rivera Jr., 39, was arrested on Tuesday for alleged theft from a CPS Energy facility, resulting in over $3,000 in damages.

According to an arrest warrant, Rivera faces charges including theft of material, criminal mischief, and damage to critical infrastructure.

The incident occurred on February 5, 2026, at CPS Energy’s facility located in the 8900 block of Old Corpus Christi Highway.

A CPS Energy investigator informed a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) special agent about the theft and provided an incident report and surveillance footage.

On the morning of the theft, San Antonio police officers contacted Rivera, prompting the DPS agent to request bodycam footage of the interaction.

The bodycam footage revealed Rivera holding multiple items, including red bolt cutters and cut cables of copper wire.

Notably, Rivera was wearing the same clothing seen in the surveillance video. The video showed him in the vicinity where the copper wire was cut, later capturing him jumping over a security fence.

The estimated damages caused by Rivera total $3,068, which includes overhead costs and necessary repairs.

Rivera has been booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $90,000 for the three charges.
