Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers welcomed Branford Marsalis during their set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 25, 2026.

The performance marked another highlight in Hornsby’s live shows supporting his recent album, Indigo Park, released on April 3.

During the festival at the Fair Grounds, Hornsby reignited an old collaboration with Marsalis, referencing their past connections with the Grateful Dead.

Branford Marsalis first joined the Grateful Dead on March 29, 1990, at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., performing a notable rendition of “Eyes of the World.”

This performance was later included in the live compilation LP, Without a Net.

Following the loss of Brent Mydland just days after the July 23, 1990 show, the Grateful Dead brought in Hornsby and Vince Welnick in September 1990.

On December 31, 1990, Hornsby and Marsalis shared the stage for the first time at the Oakland Coliseum Arena.

Hornsby’s fourth album, Harbor Lights, featured Marsalis, showcasing their musical synergy in tracks like “Talk of the Town” and “Long Tall Cool One.”

Over the decades, their collaborations have included performances of the National Anthem in 1995 and memorable moments at festivals.

At the Jazz Fest, Marsalis joined Hornsby & The Noisemakers to perform “The End of Innocence,” “Prairie Dog Town,” and “Way It Is.”

This collaboration added rich layers to the ensemble’s performance, highlighting their musical chemistry.
