The Süper Lig derby match between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe kicked off on March 31. Fenerbahçe was awarded a penalty in the 11th minute after Cherif was fouled. However, Anderson Talisca missed the penalty shot in the 13th minute.

During the match, tensions arose early, leading to yellow cards for Jayden Oosterwolde and Uğurcan Çakır in the 6th minute. Galatasaray’s head coach Okan Buruk emphasized the importance of the match, stating, “Winning today is about gaining an advantage, not securing the championship yet.”

Buruk mentioned that three teams are in contention for the title, with Fenerbahçe being their closest rival. He noted, “A 4-point advantage is crucial going into the last three weeks. We are ready and focused on winning.”

Fenerbahçe’s coach Domenico Tedesco stated, “Our mindset must be clear and confident from the start. We expect Galatasaray to press us at the beginning, and we are prepared for that.” He added that they need to focus on their game plan and defend when necessary.

Tedesco also spoke about Marco Asensio, stating that he was not yet ready to play. “We have tried hard to prepare him, but we cannot risk him for a long-term injury,” he explained. The starting lineups included key players from both teams, with Galatasaray featuring Victor Osimhen.

Fenerbahçe fans began gathering early in Kadıköy. Around 2,500 supporters boarded buses after security checks and headed to RAMS Park. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as fans prepared for the derby.
