Terence Crawford has identified Shakur Stevenson as the opponent he wants Gervonta Davis to face this year. Davis is expected to return to boxing after a lengthy absence.
Davis has not fought since March 2025. In that match, he drew with Lamont Roach, a result some believed was fortunate.
Despite the draw, Davis retained his WBA lightweight title. He was initially set for an immediate rematch with Roach but instead considered an exhibition with Jake Paul.
However, Davis faced allegations of domestic violence from his ex-partner, Courtney Rossel. Following this, the WBA designated him as ‘champion in recess.’
Floyd Schofield, the No.1 contender, has urged the WBA to either mandate their fight or provide him a vacant title opportunity. Davis has shown interest in rematching Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz at 140lbs.
In 2021, Davis outpointed Cruz. Crawford does not support a bout between Davis and Schofield or Cruz but favors a match with Stevenson.
Crawford expressed, “I would love to see Shakur vs ‘Tank’ Davis.” He believes such a fight represents one of the best matchups possible.
Stevenson has called out Davis multiple times. However, he has grown increasingly skeptical about Davis’s willingness to fight him.
Given Stevenson’s dominant performance against Teofimo Lopez in January, an immediate matchup may be unrealistic. Crawford’s interest highlights the anticipation surrounding a potential showdown between these two fighters.
