Stacy Lewis concluded her LPGA career at the Chevron Championship in Houston on April 24, 2026. This marked what she expects to be her final round as a full-time player. Lewis, 41, is currently four months pregnant with her second child.
Though she missed the cut at the tournament, she felt fulfilled after making a final par putt. “I’m ready for the next chapter, and ready to stop grinding over eight-footers like that on the last hole when it doesn’t matter,” Lewis expressed.
The Chevron Championship held special significance for Lewis. She won this event in 2011, which was her first major championship and the second of her 13 LPGA Tour victories. This victory was pivotal in her career, leading her to become World No. 1 two seasons later.
Reflecting on her journey, Lewis recalled her struggles with scoliosis as a child. “I just think back to the kid in high school wearing a back brace and being told I have to have surgery, to 25-plus years later to still be playing golf, to be doing it at this level to have accomplished what I did, I mean, it’s really kind of a fairytale,” she said.
For her final hole, Lewis’ father took over caddying duties from her husband. “We were just talking about the golf course today and how it played, all the fairway woods I’ve hit into greens this week,” Lewis noted. She added that her husband suggested the switch, making it a memorable moment.
Lewis has a strong connection to the Houston area, where she grew up. She previously demonstrated her loyalty to the community by donating her winnings to Hurricane Harvey relief in 2017, when she won her first event in three years.
