Wisconsin basketball transfer guard John Blackwell is visiting Duke University on Monday. This news was reported by On3’s Joe Tipton. Blackwell’s recruitment is currently focused on six schools.
Those six schools are Alabama, Arizona, Duke, Illinois, Louisville and UCLA. Blackwell has already visited UCLA. He is also reportedly set to visit Louisville later this week.
Duke, UCLA and Louisville may be emerging as favorites. This is especially true after Illinois wing Andrej Stojakovic announced his return. Stojakovic’s decision was recent.
247Sports lists Blackwell as a five-star transfer prospect. He is ranked as the No. 3 overall player in the portal. He is also the No. 1 shooting guard.
Blackwell is visiting a Duke program with recent success. The team reached its third consecutive Elite Eight in 2025-26. The program is led by fourth-year head coach Jon Scheyer.
Duke is still looking for its first national title since 2015. Joe Tipton wrote on Monday that Duke is his current pick. He predicts Duke will land Blackwell’s commitment.
Wisconsin fans are advised to follow Blackwell’s recruitment. His choice of Duke could be a best-case scenario for the Badgers. This would avoid facing him during the Big Ten schedule.
