The Dallas Cowboys and All-Pro kicker Brandon Aubrey agreed to a four-year contract extension on April 20, 2026. The deal makes Aubrey the highest-paid kicker in NFL history. The agreement was reported by the team’s official site and NFL Media.
Brandon Aubrey’s new contract is a four-year, $28 million deal. This makes him the first NFL kicker to earn $7 million per year. The 31-year-old has been a Pro Bowl selection in all three of his NFL seasons.
In his career, Aubrey has made 112 of his 127 field goal attempts. His field goal make percentage is 88.2 percent. The extension concludes a process Cowboys COO Stephen Jones called “a journey.”
Aubrey stated he “absolutely” wanted to stay with the Cowboys long-term. The team’s leadership also expressed a strong desire to keep him. Owner Jerry Jones praised Aubrey at the NFL Combine.
“I think he’s outstanding,” Jerry Jones said of Aubrey. “Love his story, love the fact that the story is with the Cowboys. We feel good that what we are talking about is an appreciation of what he can do for us.”
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer was also a strong advocate for his kicker. Schottenheimer referred to Aubrey as a “weapon” on multiple occasions. He commented on the team culture during negotiations.
“When you build the right culture here, the players want to stay,” Schottenheimer said at the NFL Combine. “Players want to be here. And so, as the negotiation and the business side of it happens, the good thing for me, and the good thing for us — the Cowboys Organization — is knowing that Brandon doesn’t want to go anywhere.”
The extension ensures Aubrey remains with the Cowboys through 2030. The team now has its kicker secured for the long term. Aubrey was a priority for the Cowboys in free agency this offseason.
He joins running back Javonte Williams as players Dallas has signed to long-term deals. Attention now turns to wide receiver George Pickens. The Cowboys placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Pickens in late February.
Pickens and the Cowboys have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term contract. The team has now secured a key special teams player for its future. The record-setting deal reflects Aubrey’s performance and value to the franchise.
