Manchester United are targeting West Ham’s El Hadji Malick Diouf and have confirmed a new contract for Kobbie Mainoo until 2031.
United are prioritizing midfield reinforcements, but are also considering options at left-back.
Diouf, who joined West Ham for €22 million (£19 million) from Slavia Prague, has become a key player after a difficult start.
Diouf’s defensive performances improved in the second half of the season, and his crossing ability adds to his attacking threat.
It remains unclear whether West Ham will accept a bid for Diouf, given their relegation battle.
Another leading Premier League club has also been monitoring Diouf.
Manchester United are expected to focus on strengthening their midfield first.

Patrick Dorgu can play more advanced and compete for a winger, so a defensive player who can compete with Luke Shaw could be a priority.
Other options at left-back for United include Tyrell Malacia and the right-back duo of Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot.
Shaw has shown good form, but his inconsistent injury record is a concern.
United will need to be mindful of Shaw’s workload, especially with their participation in next season’s Champions League.
The quality of squad depth will be crucial to competing at the highest level in Europe.
Diouf is expected to represent Senegal at the World Cup and is seen as having potential to develop.
West Ham’s negotiating position in selling Diouf will be influenced by whether they manage to stay in the top flight.
The team is currently just two points above the relegation zone with four games remaining.
They recorded a loss of £104.2 million for the year ending 31 May 2025 and may need to sell players to improve their financial position.
