Oklahoma softball has secured a joint SEC regular season title. The No. 1-ranked team defeated Texas A&M 4-3 on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Oklahoma was previously defeated by Texas A&M 8-5 in the first game of the series, which was postponed last Thursday and resumed on Friday. Despite only having five hits, Oklahoma secured the victory.
Kasidi Pickering scored the Sooners’ first run with a single to right field in the fourth inning, allowing Chaney Helton to score. Abby Dayton then scored after reaching base on a fielder’s choice, and Lexi McDaniel added another run with a single to center field that brought Pickering home.
Kendall Wells, Oklahoma’s star player, is still two home runs away from breaking the NCAA single-season home run record. She was 0-for-2 with two walks on Friday and 1-for-1 with three walks on Saturday.
Miali Guachino started the game, keeping Texas A&M scoreless for four innings. She gave up three runs in the fifth inning before being replaced by Audrey Lowry, who came out of tough situations in the sixth and seventh.

After five innings, the score was tied at 3-3, with Texas A&M tying the score with two home runs from Kennedy Powell and Tallen Edwards. In the fourth inning, Oklahoma scored three runs, going from behind to ahead.
Wells continues her quest for her 37th home run, which would tie the NCAA single-season record. She recorded one single, one walk, and one run scored on Saturday.
